Assessment is completed as per the whole school agreed assessment schedule.
Canadian Lead PS Assessment Schedule
Students receive two written reports each year which are sent home to families/carers on the last Thursday of Term 2 and Term 4.
Reports include;
Where required, teachers will report on English as an Additional Language (EAL). Teachers will report on the expected progress scale: a scale that rates student progress in a way that accounts for individual student factors that may impact performance such as age, refugee or migrant background and related life experiences, and previous educational experiences in their home language and English.
At Canadian Lead PS, we offer face to face or phone Parent/Carer Teacher interviews three times a year. These interviews occur over a two week period and are in lieu of the agreed two hour meeting time. Staff are required to stay onsite until 5:30pm (regular meeting time).
Parent/ Carer interviews are communicated to teachers on the Staff termly calendars and the whole school meeting schedule. We use Compass as a booking system and to communicate to parents and carers.
In the event where a staff member is absent, leadership/administration will notify the parents that their meeting has been cancelled. Leadership and the staff member absent must decide on a new date and all bookings must go through the Compass booking system.
Canadian Lead PS uses Compass as our main communication tool with parents. Parents are provided with instructions to download the Compass app, and can send direct messages to their child’s teacher through the ‘Connect’ function.
Teachers and units are responsible for sending general reminders about classroom and school events through their ‘Class News Feed’. Teachers are encouraged to send messages during normal business hours. Teachers should respond to parent messages within 2-3 business days, and are not expected to respond to parent messages outside of normal business hours.
